The Base Chakra

Muladhara, means base or root in Sanskrit and is the seat of yoga, found at the sacral area, at the bottom of the pelvis.
This area of the physical body impacts, and is impacted by, our connection to family, culture, and community.
As action, it is associated with movement, perseverance, discipline, and motivation.
When we practice poses, like mountain or lotus, drawing our mindfulness to our sacred connection to the earth, a sense of home, belonging, safety and protection are experienced and valued.
Grounding postures build our focus in prioritizing boundaries and considering self-care a necessity, with no guilt.
We become receptive to receive nurturing relationships and recognize their false counterparts (in manipulative individuals).
As physical energy, Muladhara, flows as vitality, strength, balance, and positive body image.
When grounded, we open connections to the natural world, feel more stable, present, and make more practical decisions not based upon emotion.
Possessions are considered treasured assets:
financial resources
physical mobility
time
energy,
and individuals who reciprocate love and kindness towards us.
Finances are protected, not selfishly, but out of a sense of self-preservation and establishing our OWN financial independence.
